Tiny Tradies – Hire Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 02/Sep/2026

1. Who's who

In these terms, "Tiny Tradies", "we" and "us" means the business operating at tinytradies.co.nz. "You" and "the hirer" means the person who makes and pays for the booking. "Equipment" means everything we hire to you, including the ride-on vehicles, their remote controls and attachments, foam bricks, hard hats and hi-vis vests.

2. Agreeing to these terms

2.1 By making a booking, you agree to these terms.

2.2 You're responsible for making sure everyone at your event (including guests) uses the equipment in line with them.

3. Prices and payment

3.1 Prices are in New Zealand dollars and include everything in your booking, apart from delivery (see 6.2). The only other extra charges are the ones set out in these terms.

3.2 The price we confirm when you book is the price you pay for that booking. We may change our prices for future bookings at any time.

3.3 A $150 deposit secures your booking. The remaining balance is due in the week before your event, or you can pay in full up front. Payment is by bank transfer.

3.4 We'll hold your preferred date for 24 hours without a deposit. If we haven't received your deposit by then, the hold expires and we may offer the date to someone else. We can't confirm your booking or arrange delivery until we've received your deposit.

4. Cancelling or changing your booking

4.1 If you cancel your booking, the amount payable is as follows (your deposit counts towards it):

more than 7 days before your event: your $150 deposit;

between 7 days and 48 hours before: [50]% of the booking price;

within 48 hours: the full booking price.

4.2 These amounts are a fair estimate of what a cancellation costs us, because we turn other customers away and can't easily re-hire the equipment at short notice. If we do manage to re-hire it for your date, we'll reduce your cancellation amount by what we earn.

4.3 If you remove items or reduce quantities, the same amounts apply to the items removed.

4.4 We may offer a credit instead of a refund. Credits are valid for 6 months from the date they're issued.

4.5 Any change to your booking (date, time, items, location) must be agreed in writing. Email or text is fine.

5. Venue, barriers and weather

5.1 Indoors only. The equipment must be used indoors, unless we've agreed in writing before you book that an outdoor venue is OK. Please tell us about your venue when you book, including any hazards.

5.2 Physical barriers. You're responsible for making sure there is a physical barrier between the vehicles and any hazard they could reach. Hazards include roads, driveways, car parks, stairs, steps, drops, pools and other water, and heaters or fireplaces. A closed door, a closed gate or a fence is a barrier. Keep doors and gates closed for the whole hire. Having someone watch the vehicles is not a barrier. If you can't separate a hazard with a physical barrier, tell us before you book.

5.3 The remote control is not a safety measure. The parent remote makes the vehicles easier to manage, but you must not rely on it to stop a vehicle, because remote controls can drop off and lose connection at any time. Your safety measures are the barriers in 5.2 and adult supervision under 7.4.

5.4 We may reschedule your booking if it's unsafe to deliver, for example because of torrential rain, hail, strong wind, flooding, severe thunderstorms, an earthquake, or an area being closed off for safety reasons. We'll offer you the next available date. If that doesn't suit, we'll refund what you've paid.

5.5 If we cancel for any other reason, or can't supply what you booked, we'll refund everything you've paid.

6. Hire period and delivery

6.1 Standard hire is 2 hours. A longer hire can be arranged in advance in writing and may cost extra.

6.2 We deliver anywhere in Auckland. Delivery costs extra, and the cost depends on where in Auckland your event is. When you contact us we'll discuss it with you and confirm the delivery cost in writing before you book. Deliveries and collections happen between [9am and 5pm, Saturdays and Sundays]. A fixed delivery time may cost extra.

6.3 Someone must be there to receive the equipment and hand it back at the agreed times. If nobody is available, we may charge a fee to come back at another time.

6.4 We deliver at ground level only. Extra charges apply if delivery involves stairs, steep slopes or going up levels in a building. Please tell us by email when you book. If you don't, we may charge extra or, in extreme cases, decline to deliver.

6.5 If the equipment isn't ready or accessible at the agreed collection time, we may charge [late fee] for each extra [hour/day]. If we're the ones running late, no late fee applies, but the equipment stays your responsibility until we collect it.

6.6 If we can't collect the equipment, we'll arrange another time with you, and a re-collection fee may apply. We won't enter your property without your permission.

7. Looking after the equipment

7.1 The equipment stays ours at all times. You can't pass your booking to anyone else without our written consent.

7.2 The equipment is your responsibility from the moment it's delivered until we collect it.

7.3 Please check the equipment when it arrives and tell us straight away if anything is missing, damaged or not working.

7.4 A responsible adult must supervise children using the equipment at all times and must keep the parent remote control with them. Please follow the instructions we provide and the age and weight limits for each vehicle.

7.5 Don't modify or take apart any equipment, and don't move it away from the agreed venue without asking us.

7.6 Have the equipment ready for collection in the condition you received it, apart from normal wear and tear. If it comes back heavily soiled, we may charge a reasonable cleaning fee.

7.7 If equipment is lost, stolen, vandalised or damaged while it's in your care (including by weather), you're responsible for the reasonable cost of repairing or replacing it. We'll give you a breakdown of that cost. This doesn't apply to damage caused by a fault in the equipment or by us.

8. Safety and your legal rights

8.1 We supply equipment in safe working order, with instructions for using it.

8.2 You're responsible for supervising children, keeping the barriers in 5.2 in place, and following our instructions. If you notice a fault, stop using the equipment and contact us straight away.

8.3 Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986, or any other law that can't be excluded. That includes the cancellation, refund and weather clauses above.

9. Extra charges

9.1 If any extra charges become payable under these terms (for example for damage, cleaning, late collection or re-delivery), we'll send you an itemised invoice with the amount and the reason. It's payable by bank transfer within [7] days.

9.2 If you disagree with a charge, tell us within 7 days and we'll review it.

10. Emails and privacy

10.1 If you tick the box when you book, we may send you occasional news and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in our emails.

10.2 We only use your personal information to run your booking and to look after our business, in line with the Privacy Act 2020. You can ask to see or correct the information we hold about you. [Link to privacy policy]

11. The fine print

11.1 These terms and your booking confirmation make up the agreement for your hire and replace any earlier version. This doesn't affect any rights you have under the law about statements made to you before you booked.

11.2 We may update these terms for future bookings. Your booking stays on the terms in place when you made it.

11.3 If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest still applies, and that part will be adjusted only as far as needed to make it work.

11.4 If either of us lets a right slide or agrees to bend a term once, that doesn't stop us enforcing it later.

11.5 If something goes wrong, please contact us first and we'll do our best to sort it out. You can also use the Disputes Tribunal or any other dispute process the law gives you. New Zealand law applies to these terms.
